Barrnap
Home > Analysis Platform > Barrnap
Introduction:

Barrnap is a rapid tool for predicting ribosomal RNA genes from genome or metagenome assemblies. In this module, Barrnap identifies bacterial rRNA features from an input FASTA file and reports 5S, 16S, 23S, and other rRNA counts.

Barrnap

Annotate all the bacterial RNA in genome.

Workflow

  1. Input assembly FASTA
Upload assembled scaffold or scaftig sequences in FASTA format.

  2. Run bacterial rRNA prediction
Use Barrnap with the bacterial rRNA database to detect rRNA gene regions.

  3. Extract predicted rRNA sequences
Export predicted rRNA annotations and corresponding FASTA sequences.

  4. Summarize rRNA results
Report total rRNA count, 5S rRNA, 16S rRNA, 23S rRNA, other rRNA, and total predicted rRNA length.
